COMMITTEES

General membership:

The Hudson Valley Care Network’s General Membership is composed of service providers, persons living with HIV/AIDS and community members living or working in the region, and who share a concern for achieving continuity in the delivery of health and social services to HIV/AIDS infected/affected individuals and their families.

Membership is open to all members of the public, and you need not be a member to attend Network functions.

General Membership meetings are held three (3) times per year, and the location varies to accommodate the Network’s large catchment area.

If you are interested in becoming a member please complete the membership application and forward to Network staff. Applications will be considered at the next upcoming Executive Committee meeting

 

Standing Committees:

The Network’s mission and vision are carried out through the activities of standing and ad hoc committees. Each Network is required to have four standing committees including

 

Executive Committee

The Hudson Valley HIV Care Network’s Executive Committee meets on the fourth Friday of the month. Meetings are open to the public, and are usually held via video conference between Newburgh and Hawthorne. Please contact Network staff if you plan to attend a meeting or if you need more information about the Executive Committee.

Responsibilities of the Executive Committee include:

  • Amend and review of the Bylaws.
  • Ensure implementation of Network policies and procedures.
  • Development of membership recruitment and retention strategies, assuring region- wide representation.
  • Development and approval of an annual work plan, goals and objectives.
  • Oversight of other Network committees and monitoring of progress towards meeting goals and objectives.
  • Participation on other Network Committees; and in General Network meetings.
  • Development and oversight of strategic planning and continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Develop a process for public meetings.

 

Consumer Involvement Committee

The Care Network’s Consumer Involvement Committee promotes consumer involvement in the region, provides a venue for consumers to share the realities of living with HIV/AIDS, identifies gaps in services, raises community awareness, and provides a mechanism for consumers to participate in the development of policies and other strategies that address their needs.

This Committee is open only to people who are living with HIV/AIDS, (PLWHA), and are usually held via video conference between Newburgh and Hawthorne. Please contact Network staff if you plan to attend a meeting or if you need more information about the Consumer Involvement Committee.

Care Coordination Committee

The ultimate goal of this Committee is to reduce barriers to services using a cooperative approach and to translate consumer input into action. The Committee reviews regional issues of service delivery, assesses needs/barriers, identifies emerging issues/trends, and provides opportunities for providers and consumers to facilitate seamless entry into service systems.

Care Coordination meets on the First Tuesday of the month.

Meetings are open to the public, and are usually held via video conference between Newburgh and Hawthorne.

Policy Advocacy and Education Committee

The ultimate goal of this Committee is to inform legislative, government and community leaders at the local and state levels of regional needs and emerging issues related to HIV/AIDS in the Hudson Valley and to promote a coordinated response to address these issues.

Policy Advocacy and Education Committee meets on the First Thursday of the month. Meetings are open to the public, and are usually held via video conference between Newburgh and Hawthorne.
